Cruise New Zealand is the advocacy body of New Zealand’s cruise sector. Cruise New Zealand has been the driving force in attracting cruise lines to New Zealand since 1994, and has played a major part in building New Zealand’s world renowned reputation as a cruise-friendly destination. New Zealand has been sustaining a cruise growth of over 300% over the last five years, making cruise arrivals the fourth largest inbound market for New Zealand tourism. On the back of significant industry growth, Cruise New Zealand is now recruiting new members from organisations that benefit from the cruise industry, to enable it to continue to be a proactive advocate for cruising in New Zealand.
Cruise New Zealand seeks to establish New Zealand as the cruise destination of choice in the South Pacific and works towards the following objectives: - To maintain New Zealand’s capability as a cruise-friendly destination.
- To obtain support from government through cruise-friendly legislation.
- To encourage and assist cruise lines and charter organisations in including as many New Zealand ports in their itineraries as possible.
- To maintain and develop enhanced relationships with cruise lines on behalf of the New Zealand cruise industry.
- To monitor the New Zealand and global cruise environment and disseminate such information regularly.
- To provide support and advice to all Cruise NZ members on cruise-related matters.
- To represent Cruise NZ members in tradeshows and sales missions with cruise lines.
- To supply cruise lines with tourism products and developments.

Cruise New Zealand’s membership is made up of Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs), inbound operators/ ground handlers, airports, airlines, other tourism and/or cruise ship suppliers, and external tourism-related agencies. As of 2009, Cruise New Zealand membership is also open to cruise lines and tour operators. The aim is to create a community of cruise enthusiasts who can support each other for the greater good of growing New Zealand’s cruise industry.
